Virginia has a long history of agriculture, and for a century has relied on federal contracts and military spending to drive a large part of the economy. Since taking office, Governor McAuliffe has talked of the need to pivot our economy away from these things, and become more invested in research, innovation, and especially biotech. He visited the Virginia Biotechnology Research Park to talk about this, and meet some VCU students with the entrepreneurial mindset. These students are innovators, and McAuliffe, after seeing their prototypes, said, “These are the jobs of the future.” Learn more about his visit here.
